Jamie Pratt: just wanted to make sure we close the loop on this. Following our chat last week, we are going to create 2 options for your clients:

One question we are chatting internally - should we offer a prompt to clients to tip only after they made the last payment on the invoice or after any payment? Example here can be invoice containing 3 payment milestone, spread over 12 months. Would you like clients to be offered tipping dialog after every payment (we are worried it can annoy people) or only after the last 3rd payment milestone is made?

Product Team: (realized I received a Dubsado tip at the same time as the tip email and mixed them up, ha)

I love the option to tip after any payment. I don’t think that a small gratuity feature would be annoying!

Product Team: I would say I would take on the processing fees for the tip!

Product Team: I think the option to do either is best.

My opinion is that if the client is already okay paying the processing fee add whatever else into it wouldn’t make a difference to them:

Product Team: however it’s paid is how the tip should process. So if they are paying with a card and just adding the tip, it’s added to the card transaction and their fee. Or are you on the backend going to make it process differently? But even then they are paying the fee and might not even notice the processing difference because they will have a fee anyways from

Whatever payment they are making so they can pay the fee too.

Product Team: I am okay with paying the processing fees! Agreed that if they have an option that’s great but I don’t mind at all. Whatever makes it easy for the client!

Dawn Walsh: in case the client is adding a tip as not part of the invoice but separately, how would you see this scenario?

Tammi Camp: thanks for your reply, Tammi! We were a bit concerned that clients do pay processing fees on gross invoice amount, but when asked to do so on tip (which is optional) that might turn people down while we actually want to simplify the process and remove any friction for your clients to add gratuity to you

Dawn Walsh: yes! This!

Product Team: I think adding the tip should all be in the same process… I’m not sure what it looks like on their end… but for example, using dubsado or honeybook if they want to add it in it should just be filled in on the same form… and then the processing fee be configured on the bottom after the full total is shown. Is that able to happen?

Product Team: Are they though? Normally that happens after a wedding is over and they are mailing me a check or asking for my Venmo. Im not sending them something separate to receive a tip on my own accord. Honestly I dont use maroo for ach anymore because of the fees now and going through Dubsado is only $5. So I would rather go that route. But if Im accepting it on a cc payment they are paying through Maroo then I will have them pay the additional fee.
